Thought Leadership

Recognised for over a decade as being the key thought leader in the development of paramedics in the UK, with a great emphasis upon the strategic, educational and clinical context the profession works within, while also never afraid to court controversy in the face of atavistic establishment tendencies. 

 

Andy’s work in thought leadership in the area of Paramedic and Ambulance Service development has contributed to the rapid rise of the profession into ever more capable health professionals.

The key to success has been being known to make a difference, with examples including the move from vocational training to near universal degree level education for Paramedics, the advent of specialist and advanced level practice and changes in methods of deploying and utilizing personnel effectively. 

 

Andy PhD ‘Ambulance Service 2030, the Future of Paramedics,’ brings together many of the themes that have been worked on in recent years and adopts an horizon scanning approach to consider the likely course of these trends in the future.’

Thought leadership, has therefore been translated into a number of key areas to improve services for patients and for paramedics, which remain a key principle preoccupation.

In addition Andy has served on a number of College of Paramedics, NHS and other committees, including jointly chairing the NHS Health Education England ‘Paramedic Evidence Based Education’ group, NHS urgent care and trauma network steering groups and others supporting Paramedics in their Allied Health Professions role
